Electronic Locking Mechanism (door strike)
This is the lock that denies access to individuals who have not presented the proper credentials.
Door Contact
A device that tells the control panel if the door is open. It can be programmed to alarm if the door remains open for a specific period of time.

Reader
The reader is used to detect the credentials and either accept or reject access based on the information contained in the control panel
Exit Button/Motion Detector
After someone enters the room, rather than having to re-swipe a card to leave, two common options are available:
-an exit button is pressed
-a motion detector is installed to unlock the door when a hand reaches for the door knob
Control Panel
The control panel is the intelligence behind the system. System administrators use the software to determine where and when users are allowed to enter or exit a door based on the user's need for access. This is where the programming goes to determine:
permitted hours of entry which users are authorized to enter other customizable features The software also allows an administrator to quickly and easily add, delete or modify credentials or allow temporary access to guests.
